Congratulations to our friends at George Rodrigue Studios, celebrating recognition of Rodrigue’s unmistakable aesthetic and his career-spanning uplift of Cajun culture through painting. The PBS film Blue – The Life and Art of George Rodrigue was awarded the 2026 News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Regional Documentary on May 28.
Rodrigue’s legacy is bound up with the recurring motif of the loup-garou who, according to Cajun legend, is a cursed human who transforms into a werewolf under the full moon—made famous by the artist as his Blue Dog. While the George Rodrigue catalogue is in progress, acknowledgment of the artist’s singular vision, and his contribution to Cajun culture, persists.
